Also, it intends to fuel the discussion about the diversity of medias in contemporary art. Casa Tomada hosts the following artistic projects: Open Studio: Semester program for young artists and researchers (art criticism, curatorship and art history focus). The program proposes interchange among artists and art thinkers, stimulating one another in their own art production. The House Hosts: A program that stimulates the interchange of independent art spaces and promotes the broadcasting of artistic publications. It has the objective enhance the relationship networks of these artistic centers with independent ones. Portfolio’s Cycle: Annual program in which 12 young artists currently performing in Sao Paulo are invited to present their portfolios taking advantage of the informal infrastructure of Casa Tomada for an open discussion. (Still in development) Collection of publications: A collection that gathers publications by artists, independent art centers and small publishers, as well as other publishing initiatives that explore publication as a way of artistic experimentation. It aims to give visibility to this kind of production, which is hardly ever accessible to researchers. Casa Tomada houses an art library, mostly compounded of donations of catalogues, DVDs and books from various institutions, where the ones engaged in Casa Tomada’s projects can unearth references. Therefore, this is a space dedicated to research and study. This space also holds a collection of documents from projects developed within Casa Tomada, such as artist’s notebooks, small publications and the records that register the development of each project. We intend to give special attention to the artistic process and not just to the final result on display. That way, all steps of the work’s elaboration, from creating to displaying, are centered on the house itself. The artists do not share a specific theme, but the experience itself. The house and its surroundings and also the shared creative processes between the participants, are enough to stimulate the production of art works on this project. Over the weeks, the participant artists receive sporadic visits of artists from different areas, or professionals working in art establishments ‐ as curators, gallery owners and teachers ‐ bringing new perspectives on what is being produced. The final result of Ateliê, besides the exhibition of the art works and processes, each participant will have developed a set of artist that will be incorporated into the Casa’s collection.
