BRIX’s Index shows the price variation in the electric
power market in November
São Paulo, December 1st. , 2011 – In November, the electric power price for delivery in
the short term in the Brazilian market varied from R$ 52,22 per MWh to R$ 70,33
per MWh. The appreciation recorded in the period was of 32.55%.
The spot price of electric power of the conventional type became transparent because
of BRIX’s Index publication, which captures on a daily basis the value of the premium
used in the negotiations among ACL – Ambiente de Contratação Livre (free market)’s
agents in the Southeast/Center-West submarket.
The electric power price in the short term is determined by the sum of the premium
values’ practiced in the market, evidenced by the BRIX Index and the PLD - Preço de
Liquidação das Diferenças (Settlement of Differences Price), released on a weekly basis
by CCEE – Câmara de Comercialização de Energia Elétrica (Electric Power Chamber of
Trade).
The BRIX Index closed november at R$ 24,08 per MWh with a drop in the last day of
2,82% and an appreciation in the month of 56,47%. The maximum value reached in the
month was of R$ 24,78 per MWh on November 29th and the minimum of R$ 15,08 per
MWh on November 3rd.
The average monthly PLD published by CCEE for the Southeast/Center-West
submarket that in October was R$ 37,14, rose to R$ 45,55 per MWh to date. “We have
already considered the recalculation released by CCEE in the value of the weekly PLD
on November 29th. This way, the appreciation of the average monthly PLD in the
period was 22,64%”, explains Marcelo Mello BRIX’s CEO.
