Mafalda Santos Mafalda Santos (1980) has a Fine Arts degree in Painting at the University of Oporto. Together with André Sousa and Miguel Carneiro, she was codirector of the artist –run space PêSSEGOpráSEMANA, in Oporto, between 2002 and 2007. She has been showing her work on a regular basis since 2001 and is represented by Galeria Presença since 2006. In 2007/2008, Mafalda Santos was an artist in residence at Location One, in New York, with the support of a scholarship from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD). Her work was selected for the EDP Prize "New Artists" in 2007. She is a co-founder and director, together with the artist Susana Gaudêncio, of the art project Pessoa Colectiva, since 2010. In January 2014, Mafalda Santos founded the artist residency program Moinho da Fonte Santa, together with the musician and actor Manuel Mesquita, in the region of Alandroal, Portugal. Her work is included in many portuguese collections, namely the ones of António Cachola, EDP Foundation, Ilídio Pinho Foundation, RAR Holding and the PLMJ Foundation.
