DITO’s BIOGRAFIE
The painter Dito Tembe , was born in 1960 in Maputo , the Capital of Mozambique , he
attended the three years Visual Art Course at the Russian & Germany Friendship House in
Schwerin in 1987/9, the Town in which he had been contracted as a Skilled worker at the
Ledewaren Sued Factory for 4 years between 1985/89 . In 2005/7 he joined the executive
managing board of Mozambican art Association where he is an effective member as an artist
since 1979. He is a co-founder member of “ wiederbegegnung “ Project that deals with Artistic
Cultural Exchange between Mozambique and Germany.
Pedro Jeremias Tembe is his official name , along His carrier , he participated in many
collective exhibitions and his artworks are spread in many countries like South Africa,
Botswana, Angola, Germany, England, Spain, Italy, Nederland, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland,
Chile, Sweden, Brazil, France , china …just to mention some countries.

Dito Tembe counts now with six solo exhibitions , namely ; 1983- “ Sangue verde “ at Prosul
Gallery in Maputo.
1985 - At Eduardo Mondlanes Office in Maputo.
1987- at V.E.B. Lederwaren in Schwerin Sud in Germany, for the 25th September celebrations,
date of Mozambican Independence .
1997- “ O Regresso “ at AMF – Mozambican photographic Association in Maputo.
2004 – At ICMA - Mozambican German Cultural Institute in Maputo.
2008 – “ Berço da Humanidade “ at AMF - Mozambican Photographic Association in Maputo.

The artist had the opportunity to work with Mozambican Masters like Malangatana, Manakeu
,Victor Sousa, Samate in Mozambique - Maputo since 1979 and afterwards with Thomas Ziegler
, Gerhard Reinisch , Elisabeth Hohensee including his art adviser Urlick Kafka in Germany Schwerin since 1985 onwards……
