Easter: Scavenger hunt
Target audience (age): Ensino Fundamental 2
Aims: play a game with Easter-related vocabulary and look for hints to find the clues
Duration: 15-20 min.
Organization: group work
Materials: hints on different colored paper per group; picture printed and cut into 8-10 pieces
Preparation:
• Bring pictures of the Easter bunny and an Easter basket, as well as little paper eggs or little
chocolate eggs. (Note: The egg is a symbol of rebirth.)
Procedures:
• Information to the teacher: A scavenger hunt is a game in which the organizers prepare a list of
items to be found, tasks to be performed, or photographs to be taken by participants, as specified.
The goal is usually to be the first to do everything in the list, although in a variation on the game
players can also be challenged to complete the tasks in the most creative manner.
• Each hint will have a clue to the next one. By the end of the game, the groups have to present all of
them.
• Divide the class into two or three groups. Use a different color of paper for each group’s hints. The
clues can be the same for all of them, but given in a different order.
• Explain the game to the class and have clue #1 ready to be handed out to the groups.
Suggested clues:
1. This egg is hidden by something you look out of to spy on birds flying by. Check out each one,
both low and high. (window)
2.This egg is hidden next to things you might use to draw a zoo. Some of the colors are black and
blue. They are long and skinny too. (pencils)
3. Move around without a sound, look up, down, and all around. This will be found by something that
grows out of the ground. (grass)
4.People knock on me to say “hello,” but lock me up after the visitors go. (door)
5. I live on shelves, so take a look; I teach you things, I’m called a _________. (book)
6.Picture: Take a picture of the location of a hidden clue. Give a student this picture or a part of it.
For example, if the location is behind the clock in the classroom, give the picture of the clock to
younger students and the picture of a number of the clock to teens.
Cut the location picture into 8-10 pieces, put them in an envelope or scatter them in a designated
area. Players have to assemble the pieces to find their next clue.

the word chair could be hidden in a sentence like “Cats are hungry during autumn in Rivertown.”
(chair)
10.Write a clue backwards and instruct students to hold it up in front of a mirror in order to read it. For
