Performing for the ca mera , the a rtis t inves tiga tes the role that certain “rooms ” ha ve and the
impact that they create in her beha vior.
“Walls a re undisturbed witnesses of our everyda y life. Ra ther than simpl y spectators they also
provide the setting where important s cenes will take pla ce, s cenes tha t will inevi tabl y a ffect our
personality. They a bsorb the emotions a nd our identi ty in time, and release i t every ti me our
fi gure passes by, I’m the same person and yet old memories of the home envelop me, silentl y
ma nipula ting my sta te of being.”
She is interes ted in exploring the domesti c realm, the idea of “home” as the a rea of utmost
protection and a t the same ti me the a rea of utmost oppression.
Ala d’Ami co gradua ted from the London College of Communi ca tion, Uni versi ty of the Arts London
in 2008.
She lives and works between London and New York.
