Dear Sir,
I read on your website of your client’s need for degree qualified Civil Engineers to
work in the UK.
I am 23 years old, Portuguese, and I have a degree in Civil Engineering from
Oporto University. I believe that I have the necessary credentials for the position you are
offering. I speak English fluently as I studied English for eight years at school. Besides, I
also have the CAE (Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English), grade B.
This is the first time I am applying for this kind of job, but I have worked at various
levels in the construction industry every summer since the 9 th grade. As you can see from

my CV, I worked several summers as a general labourer, gradually moved up to a
carpenter, and last summer I worked as an assistant construction manager.
As a person, I am hard-working, punctual, responsible and I think I am able to

industry experience, make me an excellent candidate for your job.
My aspiration is to work for a company in the UK. I will be in the London area during
the week of February 3rd and I would welcome the opportunity to attend for interview.
