Anabela Sousa Oliveira is, Coordinator Professor at Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão (ESTG), Instituto Politécnico de Portalegre, Portalegre (IPP), Portugal, since January 2009,. She is Coordinator of the 1st degree course of Renewable Energies and Environmental Engineering and was also the Coordinator of the 1st edition of the Master degree on Technologies of Environmental Remediation and Energy Production. She is in charge of curricular units on basics of environmental science, environmental impact and sustainability, wastewater and residues treatments, environmental analysis besides other subjects on general and physical chemistry. Anabela Oliveira is member of C3i, the Interdisciplinar Center for Research and Innovation of IPP, and responsible for the Chemistry Research Laboratory of ESTG. Anabela Oliveira is also a permanent member of Centro de Química Física Molecular and Institute of Nanociences and Nanotechnologies at Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon; there she integrates the Surface Photochemistry. Anabela Oliveira has a 1st degree (1990) and a PhD (1997) in Chemical Engineering by the Technical University of Lisbon (IST). Her PhD thesis was developed on the area of Surface Photochemistry on the “Photophysics and photochemistry of cyanine dyes adsorbed on microcrystalline cellulose” (IST, 1997, Supervisor Luis Filipe Vieira Ferreira). Between 1998 and 2007 she developed postdoctoral appointments on Photochemistry of Cyanine Dyes on Surface (IST – LUT (UK), 1998-200, Supervisors: Luis Filipe Vieira Ferreira and Francis Wilkinson), Photophyiscs of Environmental Carcinogens, IST, 2001-2003, Supervisor Luis Filipe Vieira Ferreira), and on Environmental Remediation through TiO2 Photocatalysis (IST – FioCruz (Brasil), 2006-2007; Supervisors Luis Filipe Vieira Ferreira, Josino Costa Moreira). During 2006-2007 she received a Development Carrier Grants to work on FCT - projects on Environmental Remediation through Solar Photocatalysis and on Photochemistry of Near Infrared Dyes on Surfaces. She was principal investigator of the above mentioned projects at CQFM, IST since 2006 until 2012 and 2013 respectively. At IPP she was principal investigator of a FCT - project on the use of Porphyrins for PDT and fluorescence Imaging (2010-2013). Anabela’s research interests started on the domain of Surface photochemistry of dyes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons adsorbed on opaque heterogeneous surfaces as microcrystalline cellulose, silicalite, cyclodextrins and calixarenes. She as strong experience in diffuse reflectance techniques, as well as laser induced time resolved luminescence and laser flash photolysis, for the characterization of the above mentioned systems. Nowadays she is working with advanced oxidative processes and solar photocatalysis for the remediation of persistent environmental contaminants and emergent contaminants and on the use of the above mentioned techniques for environmental remediation. Up to know she supervised (or co-supervised) 7 master thesis (4 presented, 3 being developed) and a PhD (due in 2014). Anabela Oliveira published 2 book chapters, 50 research papers (isi web of knowledge), presented more than 100 posters and 15 oral presentations in national and international conferences. She has h index = 14. Detailed CV at http://www.estgp.pt/user/startProfile.do
