History of ISO-11783
• 1980’s – The need is recognized
– LBS Standard developed in Germany
– ASAE Investigating CAN Standards in the USA
• 1990’s – Standardization begins
– ISO TC23 / SC19 Ag Electronics formed
– LAV in Germany presented DIN 9684 (LBS)
– Con Ag Multiplexing Task Force in US, promoted J1939
– February 1991, WG1 was formed and began to work on
the new communications protocol… ISO-11783

• 2000’s Promotion of the Standard
– 2000 - German Engineering society forms
“Implementation Group ISOBUS” (IGI)
– “ISOBUS” adopted as an industry name for ISO-11783
– 2001 - Presentation at Agritechnica in Germany

adoption of the standard in Europe
– Early implementation allows
improvements of the standard

• Name: North American ISOBUS Implementation
Task Force (NAIITF)
– Focused on North American applications, but open to all
– Organization Type: a Task Force under AEM
– AEM provides administrative resources, website, and
