EVENT 4th CONFERENCE ON URBAN MOBILITY Preparing Cities for the Mobility of the Future: From Soft Modes to Electric Mobility September 17, 2013 MUDE, Lisbon ORGANIZATION SUPPORT A PUBLICATION OF PARTNERSHIP MAJOR SUPPORT PREPARING CITIES FOR THE MOBILITY OF THE FUTURE: FROM SOFT MODES TO ELECTRIC MOBILITY RO T IN C DU ON TI The path towards the mobility of the future will have to be taken through sustainable means. This guideline, which had already been outlined by the European Commission in its White Paper on Transport, launched in 2011, has been gaining strength on the ground and Portugal is a proof of that. On the one hand, the country has been a pioneer in electric mobility and today it is covered by the Mobi.E loading platform, in a model which Europe has imported and is now implementing, within the project Mobi.Europe. In parallel, despite registering very different record levels from those who are in countries like the Netherlands or Denmark, the use of bicycles as urban transportation has become increasingly a strong issue in public agenda, both in terms of legislative measures and in projects developed by local authorities directed at improving mobility in cities and energizing their public space. In a year in which the theme of the European Mobility Week (“Clean air – it’s your move!) points precisely to this mission for sustainability, Jornal Arquitecturas joins the event and organizes the 4th Conference on Urban Mobility in partnership with the Municipality of Lisbon, under the motto “Preparing Cities for the Mobility of the Future – from Soft Modes to Electric Mobility”. As a space for reflecting on the sector’s innovation and on the affirmation of electric mobility and bicycles in the urban context, the conference will bring together experts, professionals and entrepreneurs for a day of strategic debates and presentation sessions of the latest innovations in the industry of electric mobility, of the projects that are emerging in the context of two-wheel mobility, and of the new solutions for fleet management and urban logistics – and such presentation sessions are taking place in a Pecha Kucha format. The idea is also that these debates are open to the general public, and thus the public will also be invited to share its proposals for an urban mobility of the future. There will also be room for a company and municipalities display, which will take place concurrently with the conference. Mark your calendar now: the 4th Conference on Urban Mobility takes place on September 17, at MUDE – Design and Fashion Museum, Lisbon.
