Biography
Rui Miguel Tavares was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1981. He got a MSc in
Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon
(IST), in 2008.
He has experience in television environments and software for set-top boxes.
He worked in ZON Multimedia, Engineering and Development Department,
where he was responsible for the integration and development of software for
set-top boxes Thomson and Octal. He also acquired experience in broadcast,
including DVB, and encoding MPEG-2,MPEG-4 and H.264.
Since 2011, after a short experience in projects in Macau, China he has been
working in Web development, and in the development of a platform for remote
sharing of documents and in the company website Asiaconsult PAL.
From 2012 now he has been working as a researcher at CICANT (Centre
for Research in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies) being
in charge of the development of applications for Samsung Smart TV, in the
project iDTV - Health as well as for the development ot he institutional website
of CICANT (www.cicant.ulusofona.pt) and Lisbon Sound Map website
(www.lsm.ulusofona.pt).
He also participated in the development of two applications for Smart
TV, for multimedia department of ULHT (Lusófona University
of Humanities and Technologies).
