THE LABORATORY OF PSYCHOLOGY OF FACULDADE DOM BOSCO AND THE PSYCHOLOGY OF EDUCATION IN BRAZIL Elizabeth de Melo Bomfim1 Maria Teresa Antunes Albergaria2 ABSTRACT This paper seeks to discuss, in the context of the education psychology in Brazil, the role of the psychology laboratory of the former Faculdade Dom Bosco de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras of São João del-Rei. The laboratory was created in 1955 and had modern equipments equivalent to those existing in Europe. It also aimed at the enhancement of undergraduate education. Among the achievements of the laboratory, there were the creation of the Psychology and Education Institute, the implementation of a Course of Educational Orientation as well as of an active educational and professional orientation service. The laboratory’s library has been recently recovered and has been made available for consultation at the Center of Documentation and Research on the History of Psychology of LAPIP/UFSJ.
