RESUMO
ABSTRACT
Como todo clichê, aquele que define o
Brasil como o país do futebol contém
algumas verdades e muitos exageros. É
preciso examiná-lo criticamente. Verificar o que é que se entende por esse rótulo e analisar cada um de seus componentes de um ponto de vista histórico e
comparativo. A conclusão revela, então,
tanto sobre o futebol brasileiro quanto
sobre o Brasil.
As it is the case with any cliché, the one
that defines Brazil as the country of football contains some truths and many exaggerations. It is necessary to examine it critically, explore what is meant by that label
and analyze each of its components from
a historical and comparative perspective.
Then, what the conclusion reveals about
Brazilian football is as much as it does
about Brazil.
