The garden therefore expects its partners in acquiring, maintaining and transferring plant material to always act in accordance with the CBD and the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The responsibility for legal handling of the plant material passes upon the recipient upon receipt of the material. The requested plant material will be supplied to the recipient on the following conditions: 1. The material is intended to serve the common good, particularly the areas of research, education, and the interests of environmental protection. 2. Upon accepting plant material from our garden, the recipient is obliged to document and preserve information related to the material appropriately. 3. The country of origin prior informed consent (PIC) must be obtained in writing before the material is used or transferred. The recipient is responsible for ensuring an equitable sharing of benefits. The user is obliged to share benefits with the country of origin and to forward relevant information to the CBD authority. 5. The recipient garden will forward information on the material supplied on request to the CBD authority. 6.
