requiring off-tuning to the hi side to avoid it.
4985, Oct 3 at 0054, the RTTY is back, totally blocking R. Brasil Central if it could otherwise be heard like it was last
night. Maybe the USG shutdown affected the RTTY absence, and could again; as well as numerous other military/ute

** CHAD. 6165-, Oct 3 at 0056, undermodulated music is back, no doubt from N`Djamena which is sometimes all-night,

** CUBA. 4765, Oct 3 at 0051, R. Progreso on new SW frequency, with music; some modulation distortion, perhaps a
remnant of the old Soviet relay transmitter unmothballed? Much stronger than 24 hours ago, but still quite weaker than
5025 R. Rebelde which is supposedly same 50 kW power and same type of NVIS antenna. 4765 is not strong enough to

** EGYPT. 9967, Oct 3 at 0102, Qahira is 2 kHz off-frequency with big carrier, whine, and barely audible distorted Arabic

** EQUATORIAL GUINEA [and non]. 15190, R. Africa is back! Oct 2 at 1857, fruitlessly hunting for some music to
accompany my nap, instead find fair signal with YL gospel huxter in English. Got to be R. Africa again on this frequency.
No CCI from Philippines. Per usual pattern, no break or ID at hourtop, but continues as I doze; 1924 wrapping up with
address in East Liverpool, Ohio 43920 and prayer request line 330-385-8873, which trace to Robert Hull.
Pause of less than a minute, no ID or any announcement, then starting another gospel huxter, ``Ruth Benedict Presents
the Truth``, sounded like, but searches on that lead nowhere. May have lasted another quarter- or half-hour before
probable closedown.
As I said in DXLD 13-17 of April 24, 2013,

Nor have there been any since until now. Previously was also active irregularly around 1500, 0600. At least we have not
yet heard imprisoned sex-offender Tony Alamo on it again from out of the depths of his archives.

** PERU. 5980, Oct 3 at 0057, R. Chaski is poor with talk and music past 0100, vs storm noise level; cut off at 0105:49.5*
which is 4.5 seconds later than yesterday. I almost missed the timing as a quiet katydid had crept up my table on the
porch and onto my antenna plug into the DX-398, so I quickly blew her off to the floor, apparently stunned for a while,
but then crawled away, I hope unharmed. A couple nights ago it was a long-legged spider instead. An orb weaver also

** TURKEY. 9770, Oct 3 at 0100 I catch the sign-on announcement of La Voz de Turquía in Spanish, and OMA, she`s
speaking the wrong frequencies, 9650 and 9410, which were the B-12 channels when one hour later at 02-03!! Have the
wrong frequencies been announced thruout the A-13 season with less than a month left in it? They`ve also messed up
English announcements, and no telling how many other languages, a station so out of it that they can`t even convey their

own basic information accurately. Also on weaker // 9870, mixing as usual with AIR VBS. I keep checking this area for
several spurblobs but those have not recurred since the one night I was hearing them (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

RF 49, KTKA 49-1 Topeka KS, with local ad, Rachael Ray; also 49-2 is KTKA-WX, a.k.a. Storm Track Weather, map and
forecasts, current conditions rotating in Topeka, Lawrence, Emporia, Manhattan, Concordia, etc. with music track

This was already discussed in DXLDs 13-33 and 13-34, under UNIDENTIFIED; apparently concluding after lots of
speculation that it is a radar in Australia called TIGER; brush up your Portuguese. Of course now it`s well before sunrise

Miguel Cas tellino: Anoche (03OCT) se escuchaba una emisión español, sobre las 03:45 UTC, en 4765, con muy baja
señal (además había mucho ruido en la banda). Apenas se podían distinguir algunas paralabras, supongo que se trataba
de R.Progreso, pero fue imposible su identificación.

Transceptor valvulado marca Planar modelo PI-68E. Tanque final com duas EL36. HF frequência de 4.465KHz. Está
inteiro, mas não tenho certeza de 100% de funcionamento, pois não cheguei a testá-lo em transmissão com antena.
Ao ligar o equipamento o LED power acende e acende também os filamentos das EL36, com antena para 40m se ouve
ruido de recepção. Na transmissão, com carga fantasma, consegui picos de pouco mais de 40W em SSB (USB).
Comprei-o para "brincar", mas não tenho mais bancadas para isso por isso o estou vendendo. R$150,00 + frete.
Vendo testador de válvulas marca Century modelo FC-1. Ótimo estado de conservação e perfeito funcionamento. Valor

Radio Martí anunció en el Noticiero del Mediodía de hoy Jueves 3 de Octubre que de Lunes a Sábado y en el horario de 5
PM a 7 PM hora local de Cuba (21-23 UT) trasmitirán por la frecuencia 1300 kHz de AM.
Queda sólo corroborar la información por los oyentes.

Pessoal, Nosso amigo radioescuta Adriano Dias - de Nova Serrana MG esta com um problema no seu Degen 1103 e se
algum amigo tem alguma dica pra ajudar ele a consertar o defeito será muito bem vindo qualquer sugestão! . O rádio
depois de ser ligado em alguns segundos desaparece todos os sinais da tela e desliga, não marcando nem hora mais!.

Já tive problema semelhante com um som automotivo da Kenwood. Se não for nenhum circuito integrado queimado,
pode ser simplesmente umidade dentro do aparelho. No caso, borrifei spray limpa-contato dentro do aparelho e o religuei
depois de 24 horas. O defeito sumiu. Erick Tamberg Carvalho,
Olá Wilson e colega de Nova Serrana. Eu tive problemas com meu DEGEN-1103, que é um ótimo rx portátil mas frágil
como casca de ovo. Em Belo Horizonte, tem a oficina Japonesa podem ligar e combinar o serviço. Atendimento nota 10!

After a relatively "weak" solar cycle maximum with a hefty 210+ sunspots in May 2013, we currently have sunspot
numbers around 90, with some more small peaks around 120-130 expected. HF propagation conditions and longdistance communication continue to be good. New HF e-mail services, stations, networks and frequencies continue to
emerge on a regular basis. HF e-mail booms and service providers continue to expand. No other publisher considers this
revolutionary development accordingly.

RadioCuba has an awful hard time coördinating frequency/transmitter switches with programming: at 0458, 6000 is in
Spanish instead of English, while 6165 continues in English; Spanish also on 6060, 5040; 6125 comes on at *0458 with

Woofferton UK for both, 180 and 152 degrees respectively, yet 17800 is slightly stronger. Would expect 17820 to have the

1216 adds Chihuahua to Ke Buena, so:

** MEXICO. After getting even translators from Lawton and Wichita Falls, less than 200 miles away, see OKLAHOMA
[and non], I keep checking all the channels in DTV and on another set in analog, split fed from the same antenna, and am
astounded to see a weak but steady signal on channel 6, a toon with the net-5 oval-italic logo in the lower-right corner,
which I have seen on so many transmitters via sporadic E, but this is tropo! A duct extending far beyond the OK/TX
stations I was getting.
Ch 6, Oct 4 at 1451 UT, first seen; no sign of Es DX on the lower channels, nor on the maps, nor any expected at this
yearpart. Checking W9WI.com, and Hepburn`s channel 6 map, the nearest and most likely one is XET, 75 kW in
Monterrey NL (which I have seen before by Es), but there are two other net-5s on 6 along the east coast, XHAJ, 20 kW in
Orizaba, Veracruz and one in Chetumal QR, both of which would be very long shots, but proto-hurricane Karen in the
Gulf could really kick up the DX. Notably, Hepburn`s tropo maps at 1200 Oct 4 do not show activity as far inland as Enid
or Monterrey! But heavy along the coasts and further east in OK.
On the TV-FM Skip Log, Mexican DX authority Danny Oglethorpe in Shreveport replies, `` Glenn, nice catch on XET.
XHAJ-6 relays XHAJ-5, which is TeleVer, independent. XET does run a text ID every thirty minutes. The drifting time of
the XET ID was about :09 and :39 on July 30th. There is no telling about the time by now``. Lots of great info at his site:

So that rules out Orizaba; rechecking W9WI.com it does show it as a Televisa 5 relayer:

Jockeying the rotor, it does seem to peak from the direxion of Monterrey (somewhat west of south) rather than the
others, south or eastish. Before 1500 UT I have the ATS-909 tuned to 87.75 (whip only but picking up bounces from the
nearby TV antenna), and I can hear Spanish audio while the video on the TV is not strong enough to pass the audio. That
fades in a few minutes. Of course, there`s no local ID audio, and any video ID would not be legible. Frame bar still visible
at 1510, then gone.
Then from the W9WI.com listings, I check the other Monterrey channels: analog on 2, 4, 7, 10, 12, 22, 28, 47, 53; DTV on
23, 25, 31, 39, 44?, 47, 48, 50. Many of those are blocked here of course, but nothing showing on the ones which are not. I
do see some frame bars on other VHF channels, but always suspect those of being local cable radiation. Normally one
would expect (much) stronger tropo signals from the same area on hi-VHF and even UHF, than on lo-VHF channels.
The city-to-city distance calculator shows Monterrey to Enid as
1215.79 km = 755.45 statute miles = 656.47 nautical miles.
1214.37 km is the more refined great circle distance calculation from XET transmitter site at 25-37-52N, 100-14-03W, to
Enid, bearing 10 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NEW ZEALAND. 11670-11675-11680, Oct 4 at 0507, RNZI is back in DRM as scheduled instead of AM 24 hours
earlier. What do the poor DRM-feed relayers do when their signal defaults to AM? Are they set up to receive that properly

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1210, Oct 4 at 0534 UT, no KGYN Guymon, which for weeks/months has been reliably
shooting signal toward us and Philadelphia at night; maybe got their null working, but can`t even be sure it`s on the air
at all. In full daytime at 1825 UT, when it is normally audible weakly on groundwave, still missing tho there may be a JBA
carrier on 1210. I went on a DXpedition around the block to check the caradio in some spots avoiding local noise sources.

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. Heavy tropo opening from Lawton/Wichita Falls TX area, Oct 4 starting at turn-on 1356 UT:
RF 11, KSWO-DT Lawton on 7-1 (ABC); TELEMUN on 7-2, LWN on 7-3
RF 18, OETA as 10-1, and OKLA as 10-2. Still according to W9WI.com this must be K18IZ-D in Grandfield. This strange
situation was discussed almost two years ago in DXLD 11-43. OETA moved it from Frederick to serve the L/WF market
better. There never was any channel 10 around there; virtual number chosen to be amid the existing 3/6/7/18 stations.

*still* doesn`t include anything from Grandfield, but with Frederick: Channel 34; Lawton: Channel 36, not making clear
whether RF or virtual channels, but I think in most cases for the translators (other than this) they are the same. BTW, the
OK page of W9WI.com also seems to be incomplete as far as all the OETA translators. 18 is still in solid at 1445 UT.
RF 22, KAUZ-HD 6-1; did not get any subchannels checked (CBS)
RF 28, KFDX-DT 3-1; no subchannels; still in at 1514 UT (NBC)
RF 15, surprised to see an 18-1 KJTL-DT PSIP-only ID, as it must have overcome KTBO briefly, with antenna away from
OKC; KTBO is 700 kW, KJTL 1000 kW from Wichita Falls.
RF 15, shortly after the above, I also see a DTV 15-1 label, but only a `bad` signal. There are a surprising number of ``15s
on 15`` in W9WI.com around here: low powers in Salina KS, Springfield MO, Houston TX, Laredo TX (15 kW KLMV-LD,
on the way to Monterrey?), but I suspect it`s 31 kW KXVA in Abilene TX.
On the other set I also keep checking all the channels in analog, and see a weak frame bar on 44. W9WI.com shows the
likely one is K44GS, Wichita Falls 3.34 kW translator of KERA Dallas. At 1448 it lox in enough to see a toon with Dr Seuss
character. Check! With KERA schedule ``The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot about That`` (not including tropo TVDX, I
assume).
My analog channel scanning really pays off when I then see tropo on lowband ch 6 from MEXICO! q.v. (Glenn Hauser,

** PERU [and non]. 5980, Oct 4 at 0053, regular Chaski-check finds huge pulse jamming from CUBA. Sometimes there
are traces of this, but it`s horrible now, and totally uncalled-for, as R. Martí is on 5980 for only 3 hours in the middle of
the night. It`s not at the wall-of-noise level, but about as severe as it could be and still produce individual pulses. Tnx a
lot, Arnie! Yet with BFO I can still detect a carrier under it, hopefully still Chaski, and it does go off at 0105:56, which is
6.5 seconds later than yesterday. Still not reset timer to cut off before 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** RUSSIA. 13805, Oct 4 at 1330, jazzed-up ``Moscow Nites`` theme, poor with flutter, Chinese announcement. It`s
VOR at 10-14, 250 kW due south from Irkutsk per HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TUNISIA. 7275, Oct 4 at 0457 no signal from IWT, but checked just a bit too early before contracted 1-hour
transmission, in well at 0509 recheck (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1689 monitoring: confirmed first airing on WTWW-1 9479, Thursday Oct 3 starting at
2101:10. Altho I was already familiar with the content, this time I let it play so noted a one-minute break in transmission
at 2122.6 as gh was talking about Oman.

Also confirmed on WWRB webcast, UT Friday Oct 4 at 0329 after a respectful semiminute pause fading down the
preacher, but no intervening announcement, and WOR was upcut missing part of the opening. Also confirmed on 5050 at
0345 check.

music. NRC AM Log 2013 shows a few music-format stations on 580, the most likely ones by format, direxion and
proximity, if not nominal nite powers are:

Aproximadamente a las 22:45 UT (04OCT) hube de sintonizar la frecuencia anunciada en Radio Martí 1300 kHz AM.
Efectivamente en mi QTH Miami, pude escuchar la voz de la Periodista Margarita Rojo en un programa noticioso. La
señal no es clara, con desvanecimientos y algo de ruido eléctrico de los equipos de casa, pero pude verificar que realmente
de Lunes a Sábado se emplea esa frecuencia para Radio Martí, entre las 5 PM y las 7 PM.
Puede ser, que sea la emisora WFFG que opera desde Cayo Marathon. en la isla denominada "Boot Key" muy próxima a
los emisores de Radio Martí en Marathon a la cual se le rente espacio.

lo-fi sound, different program feed and/or transmitter site. 0223 recheck, 6165 still in wrong language Spanish; by 0252,

signal there. At 1235, 4750 RRI Makassar is doing better with similar music but not //, and 3325 back to talk; still audible

** MEXICO. 71.75 MHz, Oct 5 after tuning thru all the TV channels in analog and in DTV (output channel 4 from the
Zenith box), I turn it off but leave the TV on channel 4 analog, to be jarred by a meteor burst of Spanish audio circa 1330,
and some more for about a second each at 1406, 1425, 1441, 1445, and a longer one at 1521 UT. They really stand out,
breaking the Broksonic`s muting on an `empty` channel before it times out and turns itself off (and I turn it back on).

I`m running the other Zenith TV set too, which doesn`t always pass the audio at exactly the same time: no muting, but
more dependent on some video carrier being present.
Following yesterday`s terrific catch, if I do say so myself, of XET-TV channel 6 in Monterrey NL via a tropo duct around
1500 UT, I have left the antenna aimed that way, altho the chances of that recurring are minuscule, as weather patterns
move on. Now however, a likely source of this analog Spanish via meteor scatter on channel 4 is another Regiomontanan,
100 kW (visual) XHWX in Monterrey, as ~750 miles is an ideal distance for MS if not for lowband tropo; however, there
is one other full-power in the area, XELN in Torreón, Coahuila. These could be from either or both.

Were these six bursts random meteors? No more caught past 1525 UT. Meteor shower schedules at Earth & Sky list the
Draconids but not peaking until Oct 7-8, so maybe precursors to that; and the visually-limited astronomers are
downplaying the greater Orionids due to moonlight, only on October 21.

Chaski; harder to detect a carrier underneath, and/or does the jamming also have any carrier? 0105 standing by for
cutoff: On BFO it sounds like some carrier is cutting off and on, but that`s caused by the pulsing. This stops at 0106:01,
which correlates with the R. Chaski pattern, 5 seconds later than last night, and thus surpassing the 0106 reset barrier(?).
The storm is about to hit so I rush back inside before it rain, and monitor another hour on the FRG-7 with indoor wire

** SLOVAKIA [non]. 9955, Oct 5 at 0055, some very poor level music vs storm noise more than jamming, presumed R.
Slovakia International relay via WRMI, English as scheduled UT Tue-Sat at 0030 (also daily at 1230-1259). In case you
haven`t heard, RSI may be getting some funding back and could resume its own SW from Jan 1, 2014; they have
registered a full schedule like the old one for B-13 just in case. But this is quite uncertain and another possibility is
persuading WRMI to reactivate its NW antenna to serve North America, perhaps more likely if they don`t get Rimavská
Sobota itself back in business (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7305, Oct 5 at 1205, very strong signal in Spanish; what`s this? Greenville-B for sure, but supposed to go off at
1200 after Vatican relay violating separation of church and state. Can it be VOA Spanish service back on SW, by mistake?
It`s a very informal morning show with two or three announcers chatting rapidly; 1210-1219 a medley of happy-birthday
tunes in Spanish, English, Japanese, Korean(?) goes on and on; then more talk with no IDs but I think I heard ``La
Voa`` mentioned in passing, on this ``programa de los sábados``.
Then I check the R. Martí frequencies: only jamming on 7405, but it is on 9805 over jamming and // 7305! 1223 on to an
`Efemérides` segment = today in history; 1224, 7305 suddenly cuts off as someone realizes the mistake; and a few sex
later, 7405 cuts on, then stops modulating while carrier remains on, and 9805 continues normally. At 1245, 7405 with
weather report by a fuera-Cuban meteorologist which the dentro-Cubans still jam even when there`s a hurricane about

6060, Oct 6 at 0058 sounds like silly pelota game with het, but not // 15345+; had thought it too might be LRA with its
refurbished transmitter. Must have been SRDA Curitiba as it wasn`t RHC either, see CUBA, and nothing else is

** BRAZIL [and non]. 4873, Oct 6 at 0123 is the approx. center of the wandering distorted blob of something, not quite

** CHINA. 11640, Oct 6 at 0114, Firedrake poor-fair mixed with Chinese jamming. Seldom find Firedrake in our
mornings any more, when on this frequency the target is RTI, but during the 01-02 hour instead per Aoki it`s R. Free
Asia in Uyghur, 500 kW, 45 degrees from UAE (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 5855-AM, Oct 6 at 0117, huge signal from RHC Spanish. Got to be a 250 kW transmitter on a spy-frequency by
mistake. I compare it to others: in synch with 5040, 11760, 11840-undermodulated; echoing with 9810 and 6100; and
6060 is missing. 0118 talking about, what else? Los 5. Surely no other prisoners anywhere get so much support and
airtime from their home country; 5855 still going at 0210 check and 0236 when it`s Los 5 again already. If you`re trying
to make the case that they`re not spies, it might not be a good idea to do it on a well-known spy frequency! They still
haven`t noticed the error at 0327.
RHC English, meanwhile, at 0119 is equally undermodulated on 6000 and 6165, but 6165 has more hum (Glenn Hauser,

** CYPRUS. 9311-9347, Oct 6 at 0107 very strong OTH radar pulsing, peaking right on 9330 WBCQ, poor thing. Still

** EQUATORIAL GUINEA. 5005, Oct 5 at 2258, very poor signal with some modulation, weakens at 2259 and thought
off but then something still there; recheck at 2359 and not there. Thomas Nilsson, Sweden has been reporting RNGE,
Bata reactivated and heard there well earlier at 2115 and as late as 0025 the past few days. That`s much later than
previously scheduled *05-21 (irregular) per WRTH; nor could I hear it after 0500 Oct 5.

It seems an unlikely coincidence that the R. Africa transmitter on 15190 also reactivated on Oct 2; then it was gone again
on Oct 3 and 4. I was not checking Oct 5 when Harold Sellers in BC heard it from 2039 until 2053 and dead air past 2140

at the mid-point break, so playback must have started at 2313; yes, ends at 2342:38; QSY to 5085 announcement, but
really continues on 9930 at 2343 with Amateur Radio Newsline. Seems everything is running 17 minutes early; at 0000
it`s still on 9930, and recheck 0054 both frequencies are off. Next WOR: 0401 UT Sunday on WTWW-1 5830 (Glenn

** UZBEKISTAN. 11590, Oct 6 at 0111, good signal with flutter in song lesson, explained in S Asian language, but the

prime programming angles, also employed in other language services. Yes: Aoki shows, R. Japan in Hindi, 0100-0130,
100 kW, 163 degrees via Tashkent. It`s a ``good transpolar night``.
11600, Oct 6 at 0113, S Asian singing, fair with flutter. Aoki shows this one is also Tashkent, TWR India service which on

UNIDENTIFIED. 3360, Oct 6 at 0101 weak Spanish, but from its total fadeouts, as if falling below a threshold, I will
assume it`s a DX-398 overload image rather than list-log it as Voz del Upano, Ecuador, in Aoki tho long gone. If it recur,
may try to find a matching strong signal on a higher band.
12100, Oct 6 at 0116, here`s another one more easily formulated, PMS matched and synchronized with 5935 WWCR,
which is 6165 kHz away from 12100, i.e. receiver combining it with another strong signal, RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

completely stop broadcasting Radio Russia at long wavelengths ( LW) and on medium wave (MW ) in some regions,
Digit.ru said an industry source. This will be another step to reduce the broadcasting public radio stations in the far air.
As previously reported Digit.ru, March 14, stopped broadcasting on long and medium wave radio station "Mayak ", after
which the station can be heard only a few dozen settlements , employing a range of transmitters FM.
Deputy General Director Sergei Arkhipov VGRTR confirmed plans Digit.ru disable broadcasting Radio Russia at long
wavelengths and reduce broadcast on medium wave radio. He said that the Russian Radio broadcasting in the NE will be
turned off where the radio station is broadcasting on short wave (SW) and FM. Reduction of broadcasting, according to
Arkhipova, due to the decrease of public funding RTR in 2014.
Broadcast on long wave, the study polls conducted on our order, there is little demand by users, and its cost is high.
Therefore, a radio listener in the Russian Far East LW prohibitively expensive. Based on this, we consider it
inappropriate to continue this expensive and not very efficient broadcasting - Arkhipov said.
According to him, for reasons of economic efficiency and redundant stops broadcasting Radio Russia with low-power
transmitters on medium wave where there is a short wave and FM-broadcasting. In the future, VGRTR plans to extend
this radio station broadcasting in the FM-band.
Arkhipov did not disclose the exact time off LW and SW Radio broadcasting Russia, confirming only that it will be done
in 2014. In turn , the source Digit.ru said that VGRTR funding in 2014 will be reduced by 15% compared with 2013 year.
At the same time , the termination of Russia Radio broadcast on long wave and a reduction in the average will broadcast
in a loss of about 800 million rubles a year, the state-owned RTRS that broadcast in the interests of VGRTR . This year,
the RTRS due to the cessation of broadcasting in the far air " Mayak " and other public radio station "Voice of Russia " ,
according to the Ministry of Communications , has received less about 1.5 billion rubles of income . As a result of loss
from the operation of the network RTRS powerful broadcasting in 2013, will grow to 2.5 billion rubles to 1 billion rubles

Unfortunately there`s no SW // to compare, as the new 4765 runs only from 0030 to 0400. Sunrise time fits: in PdR
today 1128 UT per Gaisma.com which claims Cuba is not on DST now, but UT -5. Timeanddate.com however reaffirms

Impressões da Fenarcom 2013
Olá, pessoal.
Depois de uma jornada exaustiva de cinco dias (quatro de exposição e um para montar o stand), acabamos de retornar da
sétima edição da Fenarcom.
Foi um encontro e tanto! Compareceram colegas de praticamente todos os estados do Brasil, além de colegas do Japão,
Estados Unidos, França, Inglaterra, Alemanha, Italia, Finlândia, Espanha, Holanda, Chile, Argentina, Paraguai, Peru
(colega brasileiro que vive lá), Honduras, Taiwan e Bélgica (ao menos os que eu tive contato).
Apesar da maciça presença de Radioamadores do Brasil todo, muitos colegas deixaram de comparecer. Vocês perderam
uma festa e tanto! Vieram muitas "caravanas" de vários estados, sendo as mais animadas e numerosas as do Ceará, Goiás,
Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Espírito Santo, Bahia, Pernambuco e do Distrito Federal
A galera da "Confraria do Ferro de Solda" compareceu em peso, em especial o pessoal do QRP-BR, do AM e do SAT-FM.
O ponto de encontro deles foi o meu stand, que acabou se tornando um dos mais movimentados da feira. O Miguel
PY2OHH e o Gomes PY2MG (Muito Gay) levaram componentes e kits para disponibilizar aos colegas, o que acabou
transformando aquele local numa improvisada aula de montagens de equipamentos QRP.
Inúmeros colegas também levaram lá suas montagens para expor, mas as que mais encheram os olhos do público foram
as do Celso "Ferramentaria Lima" PY2XT e do Junior PY4ACJ, que apesar de não poder comparecer no evento por
motivos de escala de trabalho, gentilmente enviou o protótipo do Galudino, projeto dele e do Lobato PY4JR, que
encantou a todos.
O Héricson PY1EGB, o Paulinho PU2PHK e o Pereira PU2WDV e eu levamos levamos material de sucata (muitos deles
novos, de estoque antigo) para distribuir, o que acabou fazendo a alegria de muitos sucateiros, que pareciam "pintos no
lixo" na "catança" de válvulas, transistores, integrados, diodos, capacitores cerâmicos, resistores de fabricação antiga,
capacitores a óleo de alta isolação, sucatas de rádios VHF, componentes eletrônicos e peças da extinta dBNET e uma
infinidade de quinquilharias, que em poucos minutos simplesmente desapareceram.
Um dos destaques na feira foi a presença do nosso carismático colega Alex Grimberg PY1AHD, que além da sua famosa
Alex Loop Walkham também demonstrou um dispositivo de ajuste via tablet/Arduino. Todos ficaram encantados com
essa inovação!
O CRAM - Clube dos Radioamadores de Americana realizou uma divertida gincana de "Caça à Raposa", onde diversas
equipes saíram à procura de um transmissor na faixa de VHF que havia sido ocultado na cidade. Apesar de algumas
equipes terem preparado antenas direcionais e sofisticados acessórios para essa brincadeira, uma esforçada equipe de
colegas novatos da cidade de Porto Feliz acabaram chegando em primeiro lugar, utilizando HTs simples e... ...(pasmem!)
o próprio dedo (!) como atenuador! E com isso acabaram faturando como prêmio um antena Comet GP-9 e humilhando
experientes colegas que utilizarm equipamentos bem mais sofisticados... he he he Nessa gincana sentimos a falta dos
colegas das listas VHF-DX, SAT-FM e Projeto ÍCARO, pois certamente poderiam ter faturado o prêmuio com facilidade,
caso tivessem participado...
Também aconteceram diversas palestras interessantes, onde praticamente todas acabaram lotando o auditório (algo que
não ocorreu dessa forma nos anos anteriores!). Isso demonstra que o Radioamador brasileiro está mais estudioso e mais
interessado em se capacitar!
Neste ano a presença de expositores foi menor quantitativamente, pois inúmeros expositores cancelaram a confirmação
praticamente na última semana, entre eles alguns antigos fabricantes de antenas e representantes de marcas tradicionais
de rádios. Em contrapartida, empresas consideradas "novas" e que investiram em equipamentos e tecnologia acabaram
marcando presença, destacando-se a Steelbras e a Hytera. Não é a toa que eles conseguiram abocanhar uma considerável
fatia do mercado de equipamentos destinado ao Serviço Limitado Privado!
Lamento não ter tido condições de dispensar a devida atenção a todos, pois num evento que reuniu milhares de colegas, a
todo momento estávamos sendo solicitados, ou para esclarecer alguma dúvida (não, estes rádios antigos não estão à
venda! he he he) ou para fazer o translado do aeroporto de Viracopos para o recinto da feira (uma gentileza que
tradicionalmente oferecemos aos colegas).
A Fenarcom já confirmou sua oitava edição para o ano de 2014, sendo que nas próximas semanas a data será definida.
Nessa nova edição muitas inovações serão implementadas para proporcionar aos colegas Radioamadores um evento mais
divertido ainda!
No início da semana postaremos um vídeo do CRAM TV, mostrando um pouquinho do que aconteceu na feira.

it even less likely to get busted. Three or four stations at once on the pirate-band!
6950.7-AM, Oct 8 at 0052 music and English announcement; no fifth harmonic of local 1390 KCRC absent at the
moment tho sometimes it cuts on as if something is shorting; but there is briefly some QRM from Spanish 2-way on
6950-USB, possibly a legit Mexinet. Still going at 0112 with music, and still weak; 0119 signal surges briefly during rock
music; and at final check 0143. HFUnderground logs say it`s The Crystal Ship.
6935-USB, Oct 8 at 0054, rock music past 0059, much stronger than 6950-AM station. At 0100 tentative ID as Ronin
Radio? 1-2-1 counting. 0111 next check, it`s off. This matches many logs in HFUnderground as Wolverine Radio.
6925-USB, Oct 8 at 0054, even stronger rock music than 6935; cuts off at 0056* but it`s just a pause with no modulation
as synthetic voice comes on with ID sounding like ``Al-Tee-Oh Radio``, then string of greeting to HF Underground,
various individuals ending with Andrew Yoder, then same announcement repeated, and ``73s for now, until next time``
ending at 0057. Lots of logs at hfunderground.com agree it`s LTO Radio.
6925-AM, rock music at 0127. Slightly on the lo side of 6925. Still at final check 0143. HFUnderground logs say this is
MAC Shortwave.
Meanwhile, I am paying more attention to Radio YHWH on 9775; below (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA [non?]. 9775-AM, I finally catch the strange pirate Radio YHWH, which was first reported by Dan
Sheedy on 6010 and 5990, and by Bob Larose on 9775, both listening in S California. Bob had it UT Sept 28 during this
same hour. I`m usually checking this area for Turkey spurs, etc., but never found it till:
Now, Oct 8 at 0105 there`s a poor signal in English with ID as Radio YHWH, and long monolog/sermon. He`s badly
squeezed between two stronger signals splashing about equally, Turkey in Spanish from 9770, and VOA in English from
9780 Sri Lanka, so there`s no advantage to listening in USB or LSB. At 0109 also brief QRM from modulation spike
spurs, which I expect to be ex WWV 10000 except that fundamental is not very strong tonite; maybe from 9860 WHRI
supersignal. The 9775 carrier is steady and almost on-frequency compared to neighbors; well-modulated, it just needs to
be stronger.
At 0110 preacher talks about animal sacrifices, cites Judges XI:30; 0121 still about sacrificing; refers to an ISBN number.
9775 signal almost fades out but occasionally peaks better, such as 0130 and 0131. 0133 cites Jeremiah XXIII:6, Matthew
XXVIII:18, Zachariah XIV:9. 0136 carrier off and right back on. 0139 asserts there will be no second-coming, nor 1,000year reign. Apparently views obsession with Jesus as an obstacle to direct contact with Yahweh (God). 0140, ``Thanks for
listening to Radio Station YHWH --- I have another show on the Jewish viewpoint on the coming of the Messiah``, refers
to a book © 1981. Still going past 0145 when I tune-out.
Googling on Radio YHWH or Yahweh gets a number of hits, apparently mostly podcasts but nothing linked to 9775.
Maybe some of them are being played on this frequency.
This of course reminds us of the licensed but long-dormant WMLK, Assemblies of Yahweh in Pennsylvania, which is
supposedly working on getting a 250 kW transmitter and antenna operational, always registered on 9265 and 9955. But
this speaker is not its late EJOM.

An interesting station - Greek alternative radio - but also a hard catch here in Thessaloniki !
This station has been heard at least 10 year ago when I was in vacations in an island together with 1287 NW As most
Greek stations rarely identify themselves they were both in my unIDed station list …..
................Till summer 11!
Two years ago Iin our country house in Chalkidiki I was listening to them with Degen radio coupled to Tescun
antenna loop and spent more than 3 hours in finally finding their ID and their contact info . (and by chance for 1287
but it is not our subject )
Some discussion of the DJ in charge revealed that there are7 DJs . Each DJ has his own studio. Most of these DJs are
aged around 60s These studios are located in diverse points in Athens , radio linked (multiplexed) in to the main
transmitter on 846 kHz of reduced power of 1 kW (on a transmitter of 3 kW ) Each one airs his prgram once a week and
on Sunday all have their time slot with a 2 hrs ! They play 24 hrs per day
In contrast to the other free radio stations in Greece they play a radically different music content . From the little I was
able to listen , their music is of the era of 40-70s , with mostly western , jazz ,French , soul and the likes as well as Greeks
(once a week,i) of the 30-50 era (mostly operas and operettas ) Each DJ has his own time zone program . Therefore each
studio is ‘time multiplexed’
Frequqncy is 846 kHz Reception as noticed in the start of this article is rather difficult in THS . Using R75 and 16 m
horizontal antenna the signal is only S6 at best and can be received after 9 pm local time . Inside the house only loop
antennas can make reception feasible. Outside the house only PL380 and the refurbished DE1103 can get better results
! A short testeing on 7-9 indside the house was S8 max on 16 hor antenna or 25/10 on the PL380 radio.
MY verdict : 9/10 . Cannibal is nearly one of the few stations with alternative music (in MW ) in Greece following the
near-to-demise of ERA .One of these DJs has verified to me that there are several other free radio stations
playing a 'norm' quite different than most MW pirates Kudos and thenka to the team for helping me for writing this
article !

On Wednesday introduced to the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs the draft law of the Ministry of Finance which
shall be ratified by the Legislative Act which came "padlock" in the ERT.
The bill will be ratified by the 10 June 2013 a legislative act by which such alteration of Article 14B n.3429/2005 and
which enables each government minister to restructure or close institutions and bodies own jurisdiction.
The Legislative Act a general nature, applied initially on national television, but can be applied to other cases, and
especially those of the NDP, and Larco ELVO.
In the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs will speak Finance Minister G. Stournaras and not the Deputy Prime
Minister for Public Broadcasting Pantelis Kapsis. Mr. Kouvelis when he visited the site ERT in Thessaloniki's on 11/9ou
said, the pending bill of Tourism Services for annulment of a legislative act, under which the closed state TV, a proposal
in which the party continues.
Should also note that the agreement Government - Troika does not allow former employees to ERT, cover more than 656
posts for an indefinite time in Neritan as we have to meet the requirement of lenders for 2,000 layoffs in the public.

Fim das emissões em onda curta do centro de Cariari
A partir do próximo dia 28 de outubro, a Rádio Exterior de Espanha suspende em caráter
definitivo suas emissões em onda curta do centro emissor de Cariari, na Costa Rica.
Em paralelo, aumentará consideravelmente a partir dessa mesma data as emissões por onda curta do centro emissor de
Noblejas, na Espanha.
Estas mudanças afetam aos ouvintes que nos sintonizam desde América Central, América do Norte e o norte do cone sul
da América do Sul.
Nos próximos dias, a través de nossa programação e de nossa página web, lhes informaremos das novas frequências e
horários com os que poderão seguir escutando a Rádio Exterior de Espanha.

their *1800 to 1828* broadcast with news and daily feature of the planned 2020 Olympics and Listener's Letters
hosted by Bonnie and Mick. Initially, the signal was just audible, and as the terminator (sunset at xmitter site)
moved east to west, the signal came up and by the sign-off was a nice s7 level. Amazing how this can be heard in
real time. Now for the verification response for this xmitter site.

(perto ao meio dia), distancias entre 50 e 130 km. Sem as loops, sinais apenas perceptíveis ao fundo, sem compreensão,

Ola amigos, Saudações , saúde e paz a todos .
Uma coisa interessante que perceb hoje em minha escuta rotineira da Radio Nacional da Amazônia em 11.780 Khz, é que
de noite ela tem recepção nas minhas duas antenas , tanto na Long Wire de 5.50m quanto na minha vertical bobinada ,
porem DE DIA , ( Por exemplo agora as 12h54 ) ela só tem recepção na Long Wire sendo que na vertical ela
praticamente SOME !
Alguem tem alguma dica ou explicação para tal fato?
De noite = Pega nas duas antenas
De dia = Apenas na horizontal
Escutando agora uma transmissão estranha em 6.754 Khz modo USB ,apenas transmissao de numeros na língua Ingles .
Alguem sabe que estação seja essa ?

I was listening. It was really difficult to hear with the heavy rain falling on the roof of the Jeep!! Propagation was probable
relatively normal. LAs weren't anything special. The 4709.99 station was no better either. I was really surprised how well
19m was doing. I've never had good reception using a BOG. Highlights would be Nabire, Bougainville, and Bangladesh.

9 October 2013: Made the decision to go out to listen on the fact Mosoj Chaski was good, Milne Bay and ENB were
on and New Ireland was on yesterday, and the disturbed condtitions can sometimes bring unusually good
reception. A few stations were better than usual, but conditions were only fair at best. It was noisy also. 90mb
PNGs were down in the mud. I could only muster a little audio out of ENB. 3905 NBC New Ireland was absent.
Hams really blasted 41m. The highlight was definitely R. Quillabamba.
