EDUCATION AND TRAINING 2004 PhD in Sociology Lisbon University Institute, Lisbon, Portugal ▪ Title: Industrial Relations and labour market flexibility in Portugal: the change of rules at the national, sector and company level ▪ The research focused on: i) the analysis of the role of national tripartite concertation, in the 1990s, in relation to labour market flexibility and collective bargaining; ii) the analysis of developments of collective bargaining in particular of the patterns and evolution of the content of collective agreements in relation to flexibility (training, wage flexibility, working time flexibility, functional flexibility, career development, etc. ) in six sectors ( financial sector, metal industry, pharmaceutical industry, printing industry, textile industry and telecommunications); iii) the analysis of the strategies of unions and employers associations in these sectors; and iv) on the practices of companies in the industrial areas of Lisbon and Porto in relation to HRM flexibility and social dialogue. ▪ It combined qualitative methods (i) ii) and iii) and quantitative methods iv). 1994 Master in Sociology of Work Lisbon University Institute, Lisbon, Portugal ▪ Title: Trade unions social representations and practices in restructuring sectors: the case of the wool sector in Covilhã ▪ The research focused on the social representations and practices of trade unions regarding the crisis and restructuring of the wool sector in the region of Covilhã.
