The VI Central & South American Laser Master Championship is organized by the Clube Naval
Charitas(CNC) and the Associação Brasileira da Classe Laser(ABCL), com o apoio da FEVERJ

RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
No national prescriptions will apply.
Appendix-P will apply, except for P5.
If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
The regatta is open to boats of the Laser, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 classes.
To be eligible to compete a competitor shall:
be born before 11.Feb.1978 ;
be member of his/her National Laser Class Association, affiliated to ILCA;
be member of his/her Member National Authority or one of its affiliated organizations;
Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the

FEES
A non-refundable entry fee of U$100.00 or R$220.00 is required to confirm entry.

A maximum of 3 races per class can be sailed per day.

MEASUREMENT
Each boat shall be available for the measurement inspection from 10.Feb.2013 at 12:00 until the
end of protest time limit on 12.Feb.2013. Measurement and rules compliance inspections may be
carried out throughout the championship before or after each race.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available for each entrant, after completion of the entry formalities.
Sailing Instructions will also be available at the Championship website, as soon as possible.

The championship will be hosted at the Clube Naval Charitas, Located at Av. Carlos Ermelindo
Marins, 68 – Charitas – Niterói – RJ – Brazil. Zip Code: 24370-190.
Attachment-1 shows the location of the regatta harbor, and the Race Area.

COURSES
10.1 The courses will be regular Trapezoid, Triangle, or Windward-Leeward Courses.
10.2 The Sailing Instructions will bring course diagrams and definitions.

PENALTY SYSTEM
An International Jury will be appointed according to the RRS Appendix N.
Decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in Rule 70.5.
Appendix-P will apply, except for P5.

SCORING
12.1 3 races for each class are required to be completed to constitute a class series.
12.2 (a) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her
race scores.
(b) When 4 or more races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race
scores excluding her worse score.

SUPPORT BOATS
13.1 Team Leaders, Coaches and other support personnel shall stay outside areas where boats are or
will be racing from the time the orange flag is displayed until all boats of all classes have finished
or the race committee signals a postponement or abandonment. To observe a race, support
boats may move from leeward to windward through both sides of the course keeping well clear
of the exclusion boundary, approximately 100 meters from the course area. When a race
committee or jury member indicates a support boat to move further from the course area, the
mentioned boat shall do so immediately.

BERTHING
14.1 From 10.Feb.2013 at 12:00 until 12.Feb.2013 at 17:00, while not on the water, boats shall be
kept in their assigned places at the Clube Naval Charitas.

PRIZES
15.1 Prizes will be given for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd competitors in each class and division, as follow:
(a)
Overall – All competitors from a class;
(b)
Pre-Master Division – Sailors aged between 35 and 44 years old;
(c)
Master Division – Sailors aged between 45 and 54 years old;

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
16.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The
organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death
sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

ACCOMODATION
17.1 The Club has 2 types of accommodation, both with breakfast, bedding and towels:
(a) 14 quadruple rooms, with, bunk beds, TV, air-conditioner, refrigerator and duvets.
(b) 2 lodgings for 14 guests each, with bulk beds, shared bathrooms and air-conditioner. (These
rooms don´t have duvets, only bed sheets).
17.2 Breakfast is server between 8:30 and 10:30,
17.3 Check-in between 13:00 and 18:00 and check-out between 8:00 and 11:00.
