Gabriel Magalhães é licenciado em Línguas e Literaturas Modernas, variante de
Estudos Portugueses e Espanhóis, pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa.
Doutorou-se na Universidade da Salamanca, em Espanha, com uma tese intitulada
Garrett e Rivas: o Romantismo em Espanha e Portugal, editada em 2009 pela Imprensa
Nacional-Casa da Moeda. Sobre temas ibéricos publicou também o volume Estar Entre
(Celya, 2007). Foi professor na Universidade de Salamanca e é actualmente docente da
Universidade da Beira Interior. Dirigiu na UBI o projecto de investigação RELIPES
(Relações Linguísticas e Literárias entre Portugal e Espanha desde o Início do Século
XIX até à Actualidade). Com o romance Não Tenhas Medo do Escuro (Difel, 2009), recebeu
o Prémio de Revelação da Associação Portuguesa de Escritores. Outros romances:
Planície de Espelhos (Difel, 2010), Madrugada na Tua Alma (Alêtheia, 2012). Colabora no
jornal La Vanguardia, de Barcelona.

Gabriel Magalhães has a B.A. in Modern Languages and Literatures (Spanish and
Portuguese Studies) from the University of Lisbon. He received a PhD at the University
of Salamanca, Spain, with a thesis titled Garret e Rivas: o Romantismo em Espanha e
Portugal (Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, Lisbon, 2009). On Iberian topics, he has
also published the volume Estar Entre (Celya, 2007). He taught at the University of
Salamnca and, presently, he teaches at the University of Beira Interior, Portugal, where
he has directed the research project RELIPES (on literary relations between Portugal
and Spain from the beginning of the 19th century to the present). Also a novelist, his
novel Não Tenhas Medo do Escuro (Difel, 2009) received the Revelation Prize from the
Portuguese Writers Association. He has also published two other novels: Planície de
Espelhos (Difel, 2010), Madrugada na Tua Alma (Alêtheia, 2012). He is a regular columnist
for the newspaper La Vanguardia, of Barcelona.
