Exploration
History
The onshore oil exploration began in 1958, but only in the
70’s had an exploratory intensification, after the discovery
of Fazenda Cedro (1972) and Lagoa Parda (1979) fields
Exploration beginning: 1958
First offshore well of Brazil: 1 – ESS – 1 – 1968
First discovery:
onshore – São Mateus Field (1969)
offshore – Cação Field (1977)
Exploration
History
Cangoá (1988) e Peroá (1997) fields discovery
1999 – The first deep water well was drilled
2003 – Golfinho field discovery (daily production ~ 60.000 barrels)
2007 – The 6 - BRSA - 486 well still drilling in BM – ES – 5 block

Conclusions
Basin with good gas potential with forecast to lead national
scenary of gas production until 2011
In the last years the basin started to occupy the second rank in
brazilian daily oil production
After the recent discoveries in the Golfinho Complex, the areas
in deep water became more attractive
The pre-salt section in deep water of the Espírito Santo Basin
continues unexplored
Near the consuming centers and with production facilities
installed or in installation
