SUMMARY
Brazilian, born in Recife, in 1951, the son of a journalist father and a painter mother. He began his
artistic career in Art School of Recife, when he was nine. At 13, he learned the basis of oil painting.
Mota decided to commune life with art. The local environment had an enormous influence on his
palette, inspiring harmonious colors that he still uses today. He worked in Olinda, Sao Paulo, Rio de
Janeiro and New York. Today he works in his hometown. He sets up a wooden workshop in the 80's,
introducing aspects of a new skill: he begins to improve techniques in handling machines. In 1996 he
obtains his first invitation to exhibit his works at a gallery in the United States, through the Neuhoff
Gallery, New York, where he stayed with one its exclusive artists until 2002. With the knowledge and
experience gained in the cultural center of the world, he spent the following years learning and
developing further creative processes of artistic expression. He has exhibited his work since 1970 in
various places, such as France, United States, Spain, Portugal and Chile. His work has received
some awards, and his creations are in private and public collections worldwide.
