I´m Gilberto Martins Loureiro, president
of Municipal Council of the Elderly, Piraí,
Rio de Janeiro city, Brasil.
Our municipal district has 26.000
(twenty-six thousand) residents
and 3.381 (three thousand three
hundred eighty-one) senior age
people (more than 60 years old).
Brazil has one of the most modern
and advanced set of laws that aims
the Elderly Protection. The Elderly
Statute
is the most important of
them. In Brazil, it´s law nº 10.741 of
october 1st 2003 with 108 Articles.
We criated
PAI – Ponto de Apoio ao Idoso (Elderly Support
Local) to receive the elderly people and help them.

What we do there?
 The elderly people will find here, someone that give them the necessary












attention.
We have a copy of Elderly Statute for you. We teach you to identify your
rights and duties.
Do you suffer some kind of violence? Come here and report. We give all the
support necessary, conduct to the CREAS, CRAS, CAPS, Prosecuting Counsel,
Police Court, etc. Depends of you case.
If you had your rights offended, tell us. Report it, without fear. You are
supported by Elderly Statute.
Come in and have a good coffe and cold water! This is your home. Enjoy and
read a newspaper, talk about politics, your favorite team, soap-opera or
just say hi for us!
Meet the physical and artistic activities and leisure times avaiable for you.
Come propose new activities that you want!
Help us to create guidelines for our Council meeting.
Bring your friends.
Walk so much and want a place to take a rest? Come in!
Watch good films about your health care.
We are avaiable on Monday thought Friday, between 08:00 to 17:00h.
We are all volunteer. We want your presence here.
