PARA PERCEPÇÃO VISUOESPACIAL, ANÁLISE E PROJETAÇÃO
DE ÁREAS URBANAS: UMA EXPERIÊNCIA DIDÁTICO-PEDAGÓGICA

ABSTRACT
This paper presents a didactic-pedagogical experience with the classes of Applied
Informatics to Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape I, of the Architecture and
Urbanism undergraduation course at Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE),
Brazil. It seeks to explore the 3D geometric modelling to (a) potentiate the fresh
students’ visual-spatial perception and (b) contribute for the better understanding
and designing of urban areas. It is an experience that addresses the foundations of
research-action. The partial results corroborate with previous research on the positive
potential of 3D geometric modelling application in the development of the visual-spatial
perception, as well as indicate possibilities for the enlargement of the comprehension
and analysis of urban areas, by incorporating computational tools to georeferenced
maps. The challenges identified are: (a) the improvement of collaborative procedures,
(b) the articulation among 3D models and the thematic georeferenced maps, (c) the
trial of other computing programmes, mostly from the perspective of the collaborative
work.
