Solvay: Renato Boaventura takes over as CEO of the Fibras
global business unit
São Paulo, Brazil, June 17, 2015 – As of July 1, Renato Boaventura, 44 years old, is
to be the CEO of the Solvay Group's Fibras Global Business Unit, replacing Francisco
Ferraroli, who has retired. The Solvay Group has 15 GBUs, two of which are based in
Brazil.
With a degree in mechanical and textile engineering from the Industrial Engineering
Faculty (FEI) and an International Executive MBA from the Institute of Administration
Foundation (FIA) and Specialization in Strategic Marketing at INSEAD, France, Renato
Boaventura has extensive experience in the textile industry.
He joined Rhodia in 1992 as a intern, in 1994 became effective as trainee and from
1997 to 2000 was production manager at the company's textile unit in Santo André
(SP). From 2000 to 2003 he was expatriated to Italy, where he worked as Research
and Development Manager and subsequently took over the General Management of
the former Rhodia Technical Fibers.
Back in Brazil, he was made Industrial Director of the textile plant in Santo André, a
position he held between July 2003 and September 2005. From that date, he became
Director of Industrial Yarns Business Unit, a position which was confirmed after
the Solvay Group acquired Rhodia in September 2011. From January 2012 to
December 2013 was the president of the Council at Brazilian Artificial and Synthetic
Fiber Producers' Association (ABRAFAS). Even in 2013, he took charge of the Textile
Yarn Global Business Unit at Solvay Group.
Among his responsibilities as CEO of the Fibras GBU, he has to leverage the growth of
the operations linked to the textile industry in Brazil and abroad, mainly focusing on the
development of innovations in polyamide textile yarn and fibers, a segment where the
company is a leader in Latin America and internationally recognized through its
Emana®, Amni® and Rhodianyl® brands.
