STATEMENT ON THE QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IPT
Dear Sir or Madam,
IPT has developed and implemented its quality management system for testing and
calibration services, in conformity with the NBR ISO 9001:2000 standard - Quality
Management System – Requirements – and got the certification from Fundação Carlos
Alberto Vanzolini (FCAV) on December 2003. On August 2004, IPT expanded its scope
certificate including the production of reference materials. On August 2005, a new
expansion of the scope certificate included the process of development of computational
systems. On October 2006, there was a recertification of the quality management system
IPT according to NBR ISO 9001:2000, valid for another three years. The certification
demonstrates that the development of computational systems, the production of reference
materials, laboratory services related to test report, calibration certificate and failure
analysis of metallic components and micro structural characterization of metallic
components are so controlled and systematic.
FCAV is a certifying body for management systems accredited by INMETRO and member
of The International Certification Network (IQNet), an important international forum of
certifying bodies.

The quality management system IPT suggests also that the laboratories follow NBR
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 - General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration
laboratories. Meet this standard means that the laboratory has implemented a quality
management system and has technical skills. The expertise includes the verification of
traceability of measurements, the technical competence of staff, the correct choice of
method of test or calibration, the maintenance of appropriate environmental conditions,
the correct maintenance of equipment, the appropriate handling of customers' items, the
application of sampling procedures whenever it seems relevant, the quality control of the
outcome of the service and the delivery of technically valid results.
The Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Normalização e Qualidade Industrial (INMETRO),
which manages the Brazilian System of Certification (SBC), is the Brazilian representative

on International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and accredites testing and
calibration services according to NBR ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
In addition to the certification by FCAV and the accreditation by INMETRO, IPT has the
testing and calibration services recognized by Rede Metrológica do Estado de São Paulo
(REMESP). The following table lists these recognitions:
