Farm History
Serra das Três Barras farm is a division of the bi-century “tres Barras farm”, traditionally and
renowned for specialty coffee production.
The area where this winner coffee was produces belongs today to producer Mr. José Wagner Ribeiro
Junqueira and his wife Margarida Maria de Castro Junqueira, and his three sons (Kleber, Ralph
Herbert).
The family has a area of 160 hectares of coffee production of many varieties in six different farms.
All the coffee produced in this area are processed at Serra das Tres Barras Farm, with an annual
average of 3500 processed bags.
All coffee threes are planted in an altitude between 1100 to 1450m, in caracteristics from Serra da
Mantiqueira region. Warm temperatures during whole year and also with very defined seasons.
Always looking to produce coffee plantation as the main culture, the José Wagner family, searches
for all many ways to preserve the nature and all the water springs in their land.
Living exclusively on rural activity from 8 generations, the farm has 8 direct workers and their family
and counts with the work of 30 more workers during crop time.
Processing System
The coffee is hand-picked at the right time, using a appropriated cloth to avoid any contact with the
ground. Delivered at the same days in the drying patio and, if necessary, also dried in a rotate dryer
to finish the drying to finish the drying . After that, the coffee is putted to rest in wood silos for 30 to
60 days.
When ready and prepared, the coffee is sent to COCARIVE warehouses, where it will be analyzed and
prepared as market demands.
Quality facts:
Looking to produce coffee quality without thinking about productivity, the farm counts with technical
assistance from COCARIVE in an important partnership with EMATER-MG.
Also, the farm has Certifica Minas certified.
And got the 3rd place in last year COE Late Harvest Competition.
