Fundada em 1945, a Federação Sindical Mundial, foi precursora de uma nova era que se iniciou
com a resistência dos povos sob o nazi-fascismo
colocando fim à 2ª guerra mundial. Nestes 70
anos, a organização cresceu e fortaleceu o sindicalismo classista no mundo.
Para celebrar a data, a FSM, por meio de seu conselho presidencial, delegou para a CTB a responsabilidade de promover no Brasil um simpósio internacional alusivo a esta histórica data. Este encontro
ocorrerá de 1º a 3 de outubro. Segue informações:

RESULTADO DO CONCURSO
70 years of struggle and victories
Founded in 1945, the World Federation of Trade Unions, was a pioneer of a new beginning era
thanks to the resistance of the peoples under
nazi-fascism putting the Second World War to an
end. During these seventy years, the organization
has grown and strengthened the struggle of the
working class worldwide.
To celebrate the date, WFTU through its presi-
dential council delegated to the CTB the responsibility to hold in Brazil an International Symposium, allusive to this historical date. The event will
take place from October 1st till October 3rd.

Results of the Banner Competition
WFTU presidential council elected in June the winning poster in honor of the 70th anniversary of the
organization. The top three winners will travel to visit the headquarters of the organization in Greece.
Cuba, Brazil and South Africa were the winners.

In an interview with CTB International, Adilson
Araújo - CTB president, and WFTU general secretary, George Mavrikos highlighted the importance
of the activities to be held in Brazil given the current world political situation.
CTB International: How does the CTB consider
to have been chosen to host the event of WFTU
70th anniversary?
Adilson Araújo: The passage of the WFTU 70th
anniversary is a milestone in the struggle of the
world´s working class. The event, organized by
WFTU with the support of CTB, proves to be of
great value to our Union Central before the necessity to strengthen the unity of solidarity between
peoples.
CTB International: How important is WFTU to
the CTB before the current situation experien-
CTB International: In these 70 years of the
World Federation of Trade Unions acting, how do
you evaluate the role of this organization in the
working class struggle on a global level?
George Mavrikos: WFTU has always stood
on the side of the working class and has supported the struggles against colonialism, apartheid,
dictatorships and imperialism. Along with the
working movement, we fight for labor and social
rights which exist today such as freedom of association, social security, collective bargaining and
the right to strike.
Confronting the negative impact of reformism
that has weakened the trade union movement internationally, we confront the cultivation of bureaucracy, elitism, careerism and corruption by the
trade union leaderships that have abandoned the
working people. WFTU is in an upward course and
continues to support and strengthen the class-oriented trade union movement worldwide.
CTB International: How do you analyze the
current international political situation?
George Mavrikos: The political situation in
each continent and each region has variations but
the similarities are obvious. Even if millions produce, few are profiting. There is an international
capitalist crisis of overproduction and over-accumulation but the ordinary people cannot fulfill
their needs. Although there are great needs due
to the choices of the capitalists, there is massive
ced by the working class?
Adilson Araújo: The CTB completes this year
its 8th anniversary and its persistent work reveals that the organization emerges as the fastest
growing Union Central in the country. This adds
up to the effort of building an authentic unionism,
renovated and militant. We are very interested in
strengthening the relationship with WFTU, which
represents the construction of an internationalist
unionism as opposed to the capitalist system.
CTB International: How do you summarize the
Brazilian political situation?
Adilson Araújo: We are living in a disturbing
time in our region. Imperialism sponsors, along
with the right-wing opposition consortium in Brazil, a coup attempt against the legitimate mandate of President Dilma Rousseff. They used the
same strategy that was adopted in Venezuela, Argentina and Ecuador.
In Brazil, while we fight against this offensive
we also struggle for the enforcement of effective
structural reforms and the preservation of social
and labor rights, against the offensive of the national parliament - the most reactionary in decades - which imposes a regressive agenda against
the class working.
One of the most serious offensive is the recent
attempt to legalize the generalized outsourcing.
We are therefore in a resistance situation, we associate this journey to the effort for a new strategic development project that values work.

population has limited or no access to free and
public healthcare, education, social services. At
the same time, millions suffer under the imperialist competitions, wars and conflicts organized by
USA, NATO and their allies.
CTB International : In your opinion, what is the
workers´ biggest challenge nowadays?
George Mavrikos: The increase in the taxation
and the prices of basic products, the privatizations in strategic sectors of the economy affect
the quality and the access to the services, the
intensification of wars and conflicts due to the
competition of the imperialist forces cause destruction and forced immigration along with unemployment and poverty, those are acute labour problems faced by the international working class.

Em entrevista ao CTB Internacional, o presidente da
central Adilson Araújo, e o secretário-geral da FSM, George Mavrikos destacam a importância das atividades
que serão realizadas no Brasil diante da atual conjuntura
política mundial.
CTB Internacional: Como a CTB avalia ser escolhida
para receber o evento dos 70 anos da FSM?
Adilson Araújo: A passagem dos 70 anos da FSM é
um marco para a luta da classe trabalhadora mundial. O
evento, organizado pela FSM com apoio da CTB, revela-se de grande valor para a nossa central diante à necessidade do fortalecimento da unidade dos laços de solidariedade entre os povos.
CTB Internacional: Qual é a importância da FSM para
a CTB diante do atual momento vivido pela classe trabalhadora?
Adilson Araújo: A CTB completa neste ano, seu 8º
aniversário e seu trabalho perseverante revela que a organização desponta como a central que mais cresce no
país. Isso se soma ao esforço da construção de um sindicalismo autêntico, renovado e de luta. Para nós, muito
interessa o fortalecimento da relação com a FSM que
corresponde à construção de um sindicalismo internacionalista em contraposição ao sistema capitalista.
CTB Internacional: Como sintetiza a conjuntura política brasileira?
Adilson Araújo: Estamos vivendo um momento conturbado em nossa região. O imperialismo patrocina,
juntamente com o consórcio oposicionista direitista no
Brasil, seu intento golpista contra o legítimo mandato da
presidenta Dilma Rousseff. Utilizam-se da mesma estratégia que adotam na Venezuela, Argentina e Equador.
No Brasil, ao mesmo tempo que lutamos contra essa
ofensiva também disputamos a efetivação de reformas
estruturais e a preservação dos direitos sociais e trabalhistas, contra a ofensiva do parlamento nacional – o
mais reacionário das últimas décadas – que impõe uma
agenda regressiva contra a classe trabalhadora.
Uma das mais graves é a tentativa recente de legalizar a abertura desfreada da terceirização. Vivemos,
portanto, uma conjuntura de resistência, mas que associamos essa jornada ao esforço por um novo projeto
estratégico de desenvolvimento que valorize o trabalho.
CTB Internacional: Nestes 70 anos de atuação da
FSM, como avalia o papel desta organização na luta da
classe trabalhadora em um nível global?
George Mavrikos: A FSM sempre esteve ao lado da
classe trabalhadora e tem apoiado suas lutas contra o colonialismo, apartheid, ditadura e o imperialismo. Junto ao
movimento operário, lutamos pelos direitos sociais e trabalhistas que existem hoje, como a liberdade de associação,
segurança social, negociação coletiva e o direito à greve.
Confrontando o impacto negativo do reformismo que
enfraqueceu o movimento sindical, combatemos a burocracia, o elitismo, o carreirismo e a corrupção pelas lideranças sindicais que abandonaram a classe trabalhadora.
A FSM está em um curso ascendente, apoia e fortalece o
movimento sindical classista mundial.
CTB Internacional - Como você analisa a situação política internacional atual?
George Mavrikos: A situação política em cada região
tem variações, mas as semelhanças são óbvias. Embora
milhões produzam, poucos lucram. Há uma crise capitalista
internacional de superprodução e acumulação, mas as pessoas comuns não podem satisfazer as suas necessidades.
Existem grandes necessidades e por causa das escolhas dos capitalistas há desemprego em massa. Embora
haja grande progresso tecnológico e científico, a maioria
da população tem nenhum ou um limitado acesso à saúde,
educação, serviços sociais públicos. Ao mesmo tempo, milhões são vítimas das competições imperialistas, guerras
e conflitos organizados pelos EUA, OTAN e seus aliados.
CTB Internacional - Na sua opinião, qual é o maior desafio da classe trabalhadora hoje em dia?
George Mavrikos: O aumento da tributação e dos preços dos produtos básicos, as privatizações em setores estratégicos da economia afetam a qualidade e o acesso aos
serviços. A intensificação de guerras e conflitos devido à
concorrência das forças imperialistas causam destruição e
uma imigração forçada acompanhada de desemprego e pobreza; esses são os problemas laborais graves enfrentados
pela classe trabalhadora internacional.
