São Paulo, August 22, 2005: Suzano Papel e Celulose (Bovespa: SUZB5), one of the largest integrated
producers of paper and pulp in Latin America, today announces reformulation of its worldwide sales structure including Suzano America and Suzano Europa, and the creation of a new sales organization in Asia, Suzano
Asia.
Suzano’s International Business Director Rogério Ziviani said: “This reformulation of our worldwide selling and
distribution structure is to prepare the company for attainment of global scale in the coming years, with the
startup of the second pulp mill at our Mucuri unit (in the Brazilian state of Bahia), scheduled for 2007”.
Creation of local sales structures has significant benefits. They include: being closer to the overseas client;
optimized selling costs through scale gains on our operations outside the home country; the ability to monitor
and accompany the local markets “in loco”; better opportunities to identify new clients; formation of partnerships
with small and medium-sized distributors outside the home country; widening of the portfolio of products sold;
and gains of quality in both pre-sales and after-sales service.
The planned timetable is:
•
USA (2005): Creation of Suzano América, bringing together the previous structures of Companhia
Suzano and Bahia Sul – now Suzano Papel e Celulose.
Europe (2005–2006): Creation of Suzano Europa.
Asia (2007): Creation of Suzano Asia.
•
•
Mr. Ziviani concludes: “With a solid history in exports, and a leadership position in papers in Brazil, Suzano
Papel e Celulose now prepares itself for the future by building a strong competitive base – essential in
consolidating its future position among the world’s largest producers of market pulp”.
