OPENING EDICT FOR REGISTRATION IN THE SELECTION PROCESS FOR
MASTER´S DEGREE AND DOCTORATE IN THE INFORMATION SCIENCE
POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM FROM 2015 FOR FOREIGNER CANDIDATES NOT
LIVING IN BRAZIL
From October 20th to December 19th the registration in the selection process
for two waves of master´s degree and two waves of doctorate in the Information
Science Postgraduate Program (PPGCI) for foreigner candidates not living in Brazil
from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências
(FFC) in Marilia Campus will be open.
I. Registration
1. The registrations will be received from the 20th October to December 19th from
2014, in digital format, by the Technical Section of Post graduation from FFC,
Unesp, Marilia Campus through the e-mail: [email protected].
II. Documentation required for the registration
2. Upon registration the (a) candidate (a) must submit the following documents::
2.1 The Registration Form (which can be downloaded from the web site:
http://www.marilia.unesp.br/#!/pos-graduacao/mestrado-e-doutorado/ciencia-dainformacao/processo-seletivo-2015-para-estrangeiros/
2.2 A simple copy of the identification pages from the passport.
2.3 A simple copy from the Graduate Diploma (double-sided) for the Master´s degree
Candidates and a simple copy of the Master´s degree Diploma (double-sided) for
the Doctorate candidates.
2.4 The Master´s degree Candidates shall present the Graduation background
transcript; and the Doctorate Candidates shall present the Master´s Degree
background transcript.
2.5 The Doctorate candidates shall present a copy of the defended Master´s
dissertation.
2.6 Updated and documented curriculum made available through CNPq Lattes
Platform (found in the website: http://lattes.cnpq.br) or according to curriculum
vitae.
2.7 Research Project (in maximum 20 pages) associated with one of the research
areas of the Post graduation Program in Information Science (PPGCI).

2.8 Presentation letter (maximum 2 pages), in which the candidate shall indicate his
or hers motivation in accomplishing the Master´s Degree or doctorate in
PPGCI/Unesp, Marília Campus.
2.9 Recommendation letter signed by a qualified Professional, which should contain
the circumstances the Professional knows the candidate, as well as,
considerations about candidate qualification evaluation as student or
Professional. The letter must be sent by the professional directly to the Post
graduation Technical Section from FFC, Unesp ([email protected]) within
October 20th to December 19th, 2014.
2.10 Documentary proof of residence abroad.
2.11 In case the candidate is not from a Portuguese speaking country, he or she
should present a letter compromising to testify proficiency in Portuguese, if
approved in PPGCI\Unesp, through an exam that shall take place during the
Program within one year after the start of the school year.
2.12 In case the candidate is not from an English speaking country, he or she should
present a letter compromising to testify proficiency in English, if approved in
PPGCI\Unesp, through an exam that shall take place during the Program within
one year after the start of the school year.

III. Selection Process
The candidates registered in the Selection Process will be evaluated by an examining
board from faculty members from PPGCI, according to the following steps:
1st Step (qualifying stage): Evaluation of the Research Projects and the Curriculums.
2st Step (qualifying stage): Individual Interview with all candidates approved in the
1st step.
IV. Tests and Results
The Steps of the Selection Process will take place in the Faculdade de Filosofia e
Ciências - Unesp – Marília Campus, in the address Av. Hygino Muzzi Filho, 737,
Campus Universitário, Marília, São Paulo, according to the following Agenda:

Disclosure of the granted and rejected registrations: January 5th, 2015;

Projects and Curriculums evaluation: from January 05th to 18th, 2015;
-
Disclosure of the candidates approved in the 1st Step: January 19th, 2015;

Individual Interview by Skype: from January 22nd to 27th 2015;
-
Disclosure of the Final Result: January 28th, 2015.
The interviews will be scheduled according to the availability from PPGCI and
disclosure in the Program web site. The outcome will also be disclosured in the
Program website: www.marilia.unesp.br/posci.
V. Final Provisions
Omissions in this Edict will be submitted to the evaluation of the Board of the Post
Graduation Program in Information Science from FFC, Unesp, Marilia Campus.
