Abstract
This study focuses on the theme of football, more specifically, issues related to
diffusion plays football as a social phenomenon in the daily life of the Brazilian
people as evidenced by Lever (1982). It aims to address the importance exerted
by football, while cultural element that affects Brazilian society, highlighting the
contribution of sport in the construction of national identity and aspects that
account of being the "Brazil the country of football." This is a literature review in
which we make use of articles and books dealing with the topic in question.
