ABSTRACT: The 11th National Literature, History and Memory Seminar and 2nd International Convention of Research in
Languages and Literature in the Latin American Context – a national and international event – represents one of the
annual actions of the research group: Confluences of Fiction, History and Memory in Literature. The seminar had its
origin with discussions of faculty members and students in the field. This seminar grew stronger in its activities, inciting
research projects which put together research scholars and their respective advisees both in the Undergraduate and
Graduate programs. The group articulates the following lines of research: Literature, history and memory; Literature,
culture and teaching and Literary language and social interfaces: comparative studies, the latter being part of the
research lines for the Graduate Program in Languages and Literatures, with emphasis on Language and Society,
Master’s and Doctorate levels at UNIOESTE. The event is a permanent event of the Academic Calendar for scientific
and cultural activities of the Department of the Portuguese/English/Spanish/Italian Languages and Literatures Course
(Undergraduate Level) and of the Graduate Program in Languages and Literatures. As of 2010, the event began to be
organized every two years, alternating with intermediate meetings of the Confluences of Fiction, History and Memory in
Literature research group. This event aims to provide to the academic community and the higher education institutions of
Paraná and other States in Brazil and abroad, involved with the areas of Languages and Literature, Linguistics, Arts,
History and Education, space for reflection upon the relations of Memory, Literature and History in the Latin American
context. The 11th National Literature, History and Memory Seminar and 2nd International Convention of Research in
Languages and Literature in the Latin American Context will take place on November 27th, 28th and 29th, 2013, at
Unioeste – Cascavel Campus – comprising in its program a set of academic activities, such as conferences, round

writers, book launches, academic journals, all of which will make it possible for the interlocution between Memory,
Literature and History to happen.
