Once the application has been submitted by the home university, the student will receive an e-mail containing a link to complete the application. Academic Requirements All disciplines are taught in Portuguese. There is no maximum number of disciplines the students can apply for. Students may choose subjects of different courses and at different Schools, Faculties, Institutions, etc. The School of Architecture and Urbanism (Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo – FAU) and the School of Economics, Business and Accountancy (Faculdade de Economia, Administração e Contabilidade – FEA) receive each semester a large number of applications and have limited capacity to admit exchange students. Therefore, applications for such schools will be analyzed according to existing academic agreements between USP and its partners. We highly recommend students interested in attending classes of such areas to verify exchange programs available in other campuses of USP. Many disciplines have special curriculum requirements that students should take into account before submitting there applications. Therefore, the requests will be analyzed considering the Transcription of Records and the Study Plan. Special requirements: School of Engineering (Escola Politécnica) requires applicants to choose at least 12 credits in disciplines offered by this School. School of Economics, Business Administration and Accounting at Ribeirão Preto (Faculdade de Economia e Administração de Ribeirão Preto FEARP) requires applicants to enroll in at least 16 credits in disciplines offered by the school. Once the registration has been submitted by the home university, the students receive an email with the link to complete the application forms. Please, notice that we will be accepting applications only for the very next semester, and not for a full year. The exchange period can be extended by the end of the first term, under approval of a new study plan. Documents to be attached on the online applications: 1. Recommendation letter written by a professor of the home university; 2. Study Plan; 3. Transcripts of records issued by the home university and its simple translation into Portuguese; 4. Copy of the passport page that contains personal data; 5. A photo in “.jpg” format (Max. Size 50Kb) Applications must be submitted via our Online Platform. The service Info Housing doesn’t book spaces or look for options for exchange students. The search for accommodation must be carried out by the interested person in accordance to his/her economic conditions and interests. For the immediate arrival accommodation, VRERI can appoint hostels specialized in receiving exchange students. The request for such information must be made via e-mail [email protected]. We also advise students that housing for the exchange period requires the signature of a contract. It is the right of everyone, including the exchange student, to protect him/herself according to the law. This contract is made in written confirming and guaranteeing all the rights and obligations of the tenant and the landlord’s. The rent rates of a room or accommodation can greatly vary, depending on location and features offered by the house and the neighborhood. For further information regarding housing outside of the Capital São Paulo, please contact the Local International Offices STUDENT SERVICES AND SUPPORT International Buddy Programme USP iFriends is a program created by USP International Office in order to improve the relationship between international students and the academic community. The USP iFriend (a regular undergraduate student at USP who signs up for the program) is responsible for this process. According to information obtained from the Brazilian consulates abroad, it is estimated that the monthly living cost is around 900 USD presently(march/13). USP is a public state institution that receives exchange students at no cost. Nevertheless, no scholarship programs are available.
