A. Personal Statement
As the chair of the Section of Pediatric Dentistry and the Pediatric Residency Program Director at Westwood
and Venice, I have been involved in the professional development of 41 CHAT-PD pediatric dental residents.
My research interest focus on community dentistry and caries diagnosis and prevention within a culturally
competent setting. During my post-doctoral training at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, I took an
interest in working with behavior management of special needs children and through residents’ research we
have established a working relationship with Stephanny Freeman at the Early Childhood Partial Hospitalization
Program at UCLA.
