Portuguese thoughts about the ERASMUS program in Kecskemét
It starts as a discover, an adventure that seems a bit scary sometimes. We
cried while leaving our homes, wondering why we were going away from
our loved ones, that we knew we will be missing so much.
The first days confused us incredibly. The classes with different methods,
the first foreign looks. The way we had to speak English all the time, and
learning how to deal with a new culture, new language, new traditions. It
was hard at the beginning, but step by step we were not so shy anymore
and thing begun to happen.
We discovered the magic of the Hungarian music, of a lovely country, of wonderful people.
So we were not afraid of leaving our homes and go looking for new things, because sometimes
things that at first trouble us, and scare us, can actually be the things that give us serenity and
peace.
I found a big family here and, trust me, the worst thing is not leaving our
home, it's going back. Being away from our country, our well known day-today life, gives us such a feeling of freedom, a new way of breathing. The last
week was so hard, there was no joy, and we just wish that we didn't had to go
back, because we made such good friends there and we are so afraid that we
won't be seeing them again. This was my great experience in this beautiful
country.
O inicio é uma descoberta, uma aventura que nos deixa na espectativa com um pouco de medo
dentro do coraçao. A partida da nossa terra natal faz-nos chorar de emoçăo, pensar que vamos
deixar aqueles que nos amam para tras, entăo parti-mos com saudade no coraçăo. Aqui, os
primeiros dias foram um labirinto de ideias que nao pensavamos ter. As aulas com
um método de estudo diferente do nosso, os primeiros olhares dos colegas que
vieram de outros países, falar inglęs a todo o momento, aprender a lidar com uma
nova lingua, cultura e tradiçőes. O inicio custa sempre um pouco, mas aos poucos a
timidez perde-se e tudo vai fluindo aos poucos. Soltem-se e descubarm a magia da
musica hungara, deixem-se levar por um país amistoso, cheio de pessoas com um
coraçăo enorme. Năo tenham medo de sair de casa em busca de algo estranho, é naquilo que
achamos incomodo que encontramos a serenidade e a paz. Encontrei aqui uma grande familia e
acreditem que o pior năo é deixar a terra natal, o que custa mais é voltar. Estar longe de casa dá
mais liberdade ŕ alma de respirar. A última semana é o que custa mais, a alegria toda parece que
foi sugada de dentro da alma e desejamos nao regressar, as lagrimas caem porque fizemos
grandes amigos e temos medo de nao voltar a ve-los. Esta foi a minha pequena grande
experięncia neste belo país.
