DJ Peter Scmeichael presents: Love Is A
Strange Dude - DJ set. It was a mother's
turntable, portable, Philips, mono, with 4
rotations, original from the 60s that
still played in the 80s. One day his
father gave him a radio-cassete player
that recorded things from the radio. He
thought it was a kind of magic, loved the
concept and never stopped. Years later,
perhaps because the first time he heard
Portishead at 5 am on a dark road, he
wanted to be a DJ. Pedro Miguel is Peter
Schmeichael. He likes almost everything,
he is not weird, sometimes he might go
crazy with Einsturzende Neubauten, and
others he might need to mask a tear when
he hears by accident the INXS 'Never Tear
Us Apart'.
The name of the DJ Set it's from the song
‘O Amor É Um Gajo Estranho (PT)’ by a
Portuguese band called Pop Dell' Arte, one
of the most important and inventive bands
from the alternative scene in Portugal.
The DJ Set will be totally improvised – as
usual – but yes, something between
Einsturzend Neubauten and INXS.
DJ Peter Scmeichael apresenta: O Amor É Um
Gajo Estranho – DJ set. Era um gira-discos
da mãe, portátil, Philips, mono, com 4
rotações, original dos anos 60 que ainda
tocava nos anos 80. Um dia, o pai trouxelhe um tijolo com cassetes que gravava
coisas da rádio. Achou que era bruxaria,
adorou o conceito e nunca mais parou. Anos
mais tarde, talvez por causa da primeira
vez que ouviu os Portishead às 5 da manhã
numa estrada escura, quis ser DJ. Pedro
Miguel é Peter Schmeichael. Gosta de quase
tudo, não é esquisito, e tanto lhe dá para
se passar com uns Einsturzende Neubauten,
como tem de disfarçar a lágrima se ouve
por aí, ao acaso, o 'Never Tear Us Apart'
dos INXS.
O nome do Dj Set é da canção ‘O Amor É Um
Gajo Estranho’ da banda portuguesa Pop
Dell’Arte, um dos projectos mais
importantes e inventivos da cena
alternativa portuguesa. O DJ Set será
totalmente improvisado – como sempre – mas
sim, será algo entre os Einsturzende
Neubauten e os INXS.
