RESUMO
O artigo aborda a trajetória da personagem protagonista Aurélia Camargo, do romance
Senhora, uma das principais obras do Romantismo no Brasil, do célebre escritor José de
Alencar. O texto apresenta algumas características dessa personagem, como seus
desejos, seus medos e sua busca diante de uma sociedade limitada para o mundo
feminino. Uma mulher que se destaca intelectualmente em meio aos homens burgueses.
Faz também uma breve introdução do movimento literário Romantismo e do autor José
de Alencar, e como o mesmo se posicionam diante da sociedade em que vive, esta
representada em suas obras.

ABSTRAT
The article discusses the trajectory of the protagonist character Aurélia Camargo,
romance Lady, one of the major works of romanticism in Brazil, the famous writer José
de Alencar. The text presents some features of this character, as their desires, their fears
and their quest in the face of a limited partnership to the feminine world. A woman who
stands out among the bourgeois men intellectually. Also makes a brief introduction of
the literary movement of romanticism and author José de Alencar, and how the same
stand on the society in which he lives, this represented in his works.
