ESFG appoints new Chief Executive Officer and new Director
Luxembourg/Portugal – 13 September 2013 – Espírito Santo Financial Group S.A.
(“ESFG” or the “Company”) (NYSE Euronext Lisbon: ESF Bloomberg: ESF PL; Reuters:
ESF LS) today announces that its Board of Directors at their meeting in Luxembourg on
12 September 2013 appointed Mr. Roger Hartmann as Chief Executive Officer from that
date. Mr. Hartmann will be based at ESFG’s registered office in Luxembourg. He
replaces Mr. Gherardo Laffineur Petracchini, who remains a Director of ESFG and a
member of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Roger Hartmann was Group CEO of VP Bank in Vaduz, Liechtenstein from 2010
until 2013. He had previously held positions at the UBS Group from 1983 to 2007 in
Switzerland, as head of UBS Singapore and as CEO of UBS Luxembourg. From 2008
to 2010 Mr. Hartmann was a partner of Ernst & Young. Mr. Hartmann teaches at the
universities of Basel and Liechtenstein and is Chairman of the ICMA Private Banking
Working Group, a European cross-border think tank on wealth management.
At the same meeting the Board of Directors confirmed the appointment of Mr. João
Filipe Carvalho Martins Pereira as a Director and as a member of the Company’s
Executive Committee. Mr. Martins Pereira was until August 2013 Global Head of
Compliance at Banco Espírito Santo and at ESFG. At the same meeting the Board of
Directors accepted the resignation of Mr. Manuel António Ribeiro Serzedelo de Almeida
after twelve years as a Director.
